Mockups have different requirements from social graphics: they need to be consistent across a deck, on-brand, and legible when projected.

The single most useful habit for a deck is to set the card width once and leave it alone. Every other dimension — body size, avatar diameter, padding, spacing — is derived from card width as a fixed ratio, so a set of mockups built at the same width is automatically consistent.
Your project autosaves, so you can produce one mockup, export it, change only the text, and export again without re-tuning anything.
Making it on-brand
Card colour, text colour, handle colour and the accent used for links and hashtags are all adjustable. For a dark deck, start from the Dark Card preset rather than inverting the light one by hand — it already has the border and shadow adjusted for a dark surface.
The Brand panel adds a footer line and a logo watermark, both of which help when a slide is screenshotted out of context.
Legibility when projected
Projectors crush contrast. A pure white card on a mid-grey background survives that better than a light grey card on a light background.
Increase the body size ratio slightly above the default and keep the text under about four lines. What is comfortable on a laptop is often unreadable from the back of a room.
